In this session:

       warming up to find inspiration and see opportunities or problems which can be solved with the help of digital technologies

       interviewing exercises to learn about the target group, and find out more about the opportunity, problem or idea

       brainstorming sessions to create new ideas to meet the needs of the target group, answer to the opportunities and solve problems

During this session you will learn:

       the basics of design thinking process

       to really pay attention and listen to people

       to take a different perspective and think outside the box – to be creative!

       to take notes and summarize what you have heard

       to explain your needs, ideas or problems to others


Tasks

Classroom activities:

       Warm-up exercises:

1.      Dive into the world of electric cars: Which problem does the electric car solve? Why would a customer choose an electric car over a conventional car? What is challenging with the development/technology of electric cars?

2.      The history of smartphones: Which problem did the first mobile phones in the world solve? How has the purpose of mobile phones changed from the 90s until today? How would your team develop the current smartphones? (e.g. service or property)

 

Individual task:

How do I contribute to a team? What would I like to do in my startup?

Every team needs different people to get the tasks done, keep up the spirits and achieve the goals. In this case, the question is about your strengths and skills. Do you prefer to learn by seeing, hearing, practical activities? What are your skills and experiences? Are you a fan of gadgets? Good at coding? Hobby education in robotics? What about music, art or photography? Are you good at communication and connecting people? Organising parties? Captain of a sports team? Do you enjoy reading and/or writing? Are you the person that goes deep into problems and analyses stuff?

 

The sessions before First Big Meeting (SparkUpDays) are about exploring ideas, practicing brainstorming and thinking outside the box. It is important to be open to new ideas and new information, in order to find a broad field of interest that you would like to work with during DigiYouth process. Once you have found your international team, you will have time to specify your product or service idea. So keep an open mind and follow your passion!
